Bitcoin Bonus Wagering Requirements, Decoded

A bitcoin coin rises through a glass meter from green to violet toward an unlocking chrome padlock, decoding how Bitcoin bonus wagering requirements are cleared.

The single most misread number on any Bitcoin bonus offer is the wagering requirement — a multiplier that sounds simple until you factor in which games actually count toward it, and at what rate. Here’s how to read one properly before you claim an offer.

What a Wagering Requirement Is

A wagering requirement is a multiplier applied to a bonus amount. Clear it by betting that total (not net losses — total amount wagered) before any winnings from the bonus become withdrawable. A “30× wagering requirement” on a bonus means betting thirty times that bonus amount in total action before you can cash out.

Worked Example

Say you claim a 0.001 BTC bonus with a 30× wagering requirement. You need to place bets totaling 0.03 BTC (0.001 × 30) before any winnings tied to that bonus become withdrawable — and that’s assuming every bet counts at 100%. If some of your play happens on games weighted lower than 100%, the actual amount you need to bet to hit that same 0.03 BTC of “counted” wagering is higher, sometimes considerably higher.

Why Weighting Exists

Weighting exists because not every game carries the same risk to the operator when used to clear a bonus. A game with a low house edge and close to 50/50 outcomes — like betting both sides of an even-money proposition — lets a player grind through a wagering total with comparatively little at stake. Weighting that kind of game down, or excluding it entirely, is how operators keep a bonus’s real cost roughly in line with its advertised value.

Typical Weighting by Game Type

  • Slots: usually weighted at or close to 100% — every unit wagered counts in full.
  • Table games (blackjack, baccarat, certain roulette-style titles): commonly weighted between 10% and 20%, or excluded from counting entirely.
  • Live dealer games: weighting varies widely by operator and by title — check the specific offer.
  • The spin the wheel bonus itself: doesn’t carry wagering on the spin — whatever it pays out (a credit or free spins) then carries its own separate wagering requirement, covered on our Bitcoin bonus page.

BTC-Denominated vs Fiat-Converted Bonuses

Some bonuses are stated as a fixed BTC amount and stay that amount in BTC regardless of price movement; others are calculated from a fiat figure and converted to BTC at the time of your deposit, which means the exact BTC amount can shift slightly depending on the rate used at that moment. Check which type an offer is before assuming the number quoted is fixed in Bitcoin terms.

Time Limits

Most wagering requirements come with a deadline — commonly a handful of days up to a few weeks — and unused bonus funds along with any wagering progress typically expire if you don’t clear it in time. A shorter deadline changes how realistic it is to clear a given multiplier through lower-weighted games, so factor the clock in alongside the multiplier itself.

Planning to Clear a Bonus

If clearing quickly matters, check the weighting table first and lean toward games weighted at or near 100% rather than assuming any game will do equally well. If you specifically want to play a lower-weighted game while a bonus is active, budget for needing to wager considerably more in that game to hit the same counted total. Our Bitcoin deposits page covers funding an account to claim a bonus in the first place, and our Bitcoin casino page ties bonus play back to the rest of how the account works.
